Urban Filling Stations
Water or Urban Filling Stations
Water or Urban filling stations are ideal for towns to provide potable water for households and commercial operators. Especially through summer or for drought-stricken regions when tank water is running low.
All councils are different in their set up, with some water filling stations only available for consumers. Consumers can use a credit card to pay and are charged by the kilolitre. Some restrictions do apply depending on the regional town.
Contractors can be charged through a billing system. Contractors can also use a metered standpipe to access and record their usage. This is great for water cartage operators.
The water filling station pictured was installed on Lake Street North Lismore in December 2019. by Rous County Council. The water filling station is for domestic users only and is not available to commercial operators. It is open 24 hours for use at any time. Water can be purchased with a credit card and the user is charged $5.75 per 1,000 litres.
Customers require their own container and must ensure it is clean, of food grade quality and is only used for collection and storage of water. Council recommends a 25mm hose outlet to fill containers.
All water that is supplied through fill stations on the Rous County Council network is subject to water level restrictions. At the time of this article, water level restrictions are at level 1.
