STRAW GAP FILLING EXPANDING FOAM

Description

FulaFoam Expanding Foam is a triple expanding, general purpose, polyurethane foam for filling cavities from small gaps through to larger spaces. FulaFoam can be used inside or outside, will adhere to a wide range of substances and will provide an airtight, moisture resistant seal when cured.

FulaFoam is tack free after 30 minutes and cures in 1.5 hours. When cured it has a sound reduction index of 60dB, a tensile strength of 7 N/cm2, and a compressive strength of 2 N/cm2.

Features:

  • Triple expanding
  • Fills cavities without shrinking
  • Can be cut and sanded to produce a neat and tidy finish
  • When cut can be filled to produce a smooth finish One part - no mixing
  • Insulating with a high acoustic value
  • Paintable
  • Ozone friendly
  • Suitable for:

  • Sealing around penetrations through walls and floors
  • Filling holes in walls
  • Filling wide gaps and cracks around window frames
  • Sealing against draughts, moisture and noise
  • Insulating
  • Filling cavities in trees to prevent rot
  • Application as an acoustic baffle

    Surface Preparation:

All surfaces must be clean, sound and free from dust, grease, oil and contamination. High humidity and dampness will aid the expansion of the foam, however, the surfaces should not be wet. Spraying a fine mist of water into the cavity will aid expansion of the foam.

    Mixing:

Ensure that the temperature is greater than 5°C. Shake can at least 20 times before each use to ensure that contents are mixed. Screw trigger and nozzle onto the can.

    Placement:

To inject the foam, turn the can upside down and direct nozzle into the cavity. Press trigger to release foam. When filling large cavities, do no empty the whole can at once. Fill in stages, allowing the oam to expand between each stage. Using the whole can at once will cause failure of the foam in the middle of the mass to expand, resulting in reduced yield; or; too much foam may be injected. The pressure from the expanding foam may cause damage to the walls of the cavity. Inject the foam to cover a single layer. Depending on conditions, the foam should skin in about 20 minutes. After it has skinned, spray a fine mist (not a puddle) of water onto the foam. Inject the next layer of foam. Repeat until the cavity is 1/3 to 1/2 filled. Fulafoam will expand to approximately three to four times the extruded volume. Trim cured foam using a saw, knife, rasp or sandpaper. Finish with Fuller Easy Filler acrylic filler or other masonry filler, to produce a neat and tidy finish. Paint with an exterior grade acrylic.

Time to cure is highly variable and depends on weather conditions, ambient temperature and depth of joint approx. As a guide, it will cure in one and a half hours for a 30mm bead of foam.

    Clean Up:

Fulafoam has strong adhesion to almost any surface, including skin and eyes. Wear rubber gloves and goggles before and during use. Protect all surfaces around the work area, as Fulafoam cannot easily be removedSurfaces surrounding the job area should be masked off prior to application. Clean up uncured foam immediately with acetone. Cured material is very difficult to remove. Sanding or other mechanical means will remove most of the foam.

    Storage:

Stores for twelve months unopened from date of manufacture. If open, use within 48 hours.

    Yield:

300ml can of Fulafoam will yield approximately 9-12 liters of foam. 500ml can of Fulafoam will yield approximately 15-20 liters of foam. 750ml can of Fulafoam will yield approximately 23-30 liters of foam.
