AFTEK CRETE BOND 20L
Description
Aftek CreteBond is a versatile, high grade PVA emulsion used for a wide range of applications in general construction. It is commonly used to bond new concrete to old concrete, render and hard plaster. Additionally, CreteBond is ideal for sealing internal concrete and masonry surfaces. This versatile bonding agent can be used as an admixture for improving the properties of mortar, render and concrete.
Features:
Ideal for:
APPLICATION
Surface Preparation:
All contacted surfaces must be clean and free of any contaminants, wax or resin based curing compounds, oil or grease. All loose or friable material must be removed. Damaged concrete surfaces should be repaired.
Mixing:
Cretebond can be used undiluted as a woodworking glue or mixed with water for curing, sealing and patching. Refer to the Technical Data Sheet for mixing ratios.
Placement:
To bond new to old concrete, apply a seal coat (1 part CreteBond to 4 parts water) to existing concrete. Allow to dry. Apply a prime coat (1 part CreteBond to 1 part water) and place concrete topping while the prime coat is still tacky. Concrete bond and other properties can be improved by using gauging fluid comprising 1 part CreteBond to 1.5 parts water.
To use as a cement render or hard plaster apply a seal coat (1 part CreteBond to 4 parts water). Allow to dry. Apply a prime coat (1 part CreteBond to 1 part water) and apply render/hard plaster while prime coat is still tacky. Render can be improved by using gauging fluid comprising 1 part CreteBond to 1.5 parts water.
To use as a patch repair mortar add 1 part CreteBond to 1.5 parts water as the gauging fluid. This will increase the strength and bond of patch repair or tiling mortars. Use a seal coat (1 part CreteBond to 4 parts water) to seal the concrete surface prior to application of the patch repair. To use as a sealer coat for internal concrete floors mix 1 part CreteBond to 4 parts water. Apply to the concrete surface at the rate of 4 - 6 m2 per litre (2 coats recommended).
To use as a curing membrane, mix 1 part CreteBond to 4 parts water and apply to the concrete or render surface at the rate of 5m2 per litre. To use as a woodworking adhesive, apply undiluted. Pressing times of at least 30 minutes should be used. Full strength is gained after about 24 hours.
Clean Up:
Use water whilst still wet. Dried CreteBond can only be removed mechanically.
Storage:CreteBond should be used within 12 months of date of manufacture.
Yield:When CreteBond based primer/sealer coats are used, they would normally be applied at a rate of 6 - 8 m2 per litre of mixed material. Actual coverage achieved will vary according to the surface texture and porosity of the substrate. When used as a curing compound, mixed CreteBond is applied at the rate of 5m2 per litre.
